MY LIFE IN MY PICTURES :: A PHOTOGRAPHY BLOG

Bought 2 rolls of Fuji Superia 400 and took some pictures in Heidelberg and Mannheim. Compared the negative scans to cheap ROSSMANN 400 film. I have to say there IS a difference. I really like the Superia colours. The ROSSMAN film has much more red and the Superia looks more neutral to me. So, I DON`T think that ROSSMANN 400 film ist the same as Fuji Superia! Here are some ROSSMANN Scans.
And here the Superia pictures taken with a LEICA CL, Summicron-C, 40mm, scanned with a CANON 8800f.

I found some pictures of a trip to France in 2008. I´m tired of all that snow here and I´m missing the sun. So, maybe this summertime pictures can produce some summer feeling. We went to France in 2008, by plane to Montepellier, were we stayed the first night and ran into a techno party. Next day we took the train to Cosprons. It´s in south France almost in Spain. We lived in the house of a friend and we had a great week with sunshine and great food. Our friend (Christian) really knows how to cook. All pictures taken with a LEICA CL, 40mm Summicron-C, and cheap ROSSMANN 400 ISO Film. Some people say this film is nothing else than a Fuji Superia but I´m not sure if this is right. The scans were made by the developer-shop.

Hi. Happy new year by the way. It´s 2010!
I got a OLYMPUS OM-2 with a 50mm, f/1.8 glass on it. I really like this camera. Also I got tired of waiting for my scans, so I bought a scanner. A CANON CanoScan 8800f. It´s a good scanner so far but it´s very slow. So I traded time for money. But I think it was a good decision because I really like film. I can´t really explain, but taking pictures with film is different. I need more time for the whole thing. Buying film, loading the camera, developing (not myself), scanning (now myself) and some correction like cropping the negative scans some colour correction and (hopefully) a good hand for sharpening and dust removing. That takes time. But its the same with all the analog stuff like vinyl or tube amplifiers and so on. It´s a different feeling and you have somehow the feeling to get something real, something, that is not 0 and 1. So, here are some test shots with the Olympus on cheap 400 ISO colourfilm I bought at ROSSMANN for 0,99 Euros scanned with my new Canon 8800f.

I think this is the last post for 2009. Took some pictures with my LEICA CL. I bought some film. Ilford HP5 and XP2, NEOPAN 400, Tri-X 400 and a roll of APX 100. It´s a test for me, to find out the difference between those B/W films. You can find the scans here next year. I will take pictures at my holiday, you know ;)

Have a great X-Mas time and a happy new year. Thanks for visiting and all the best for you. CU next year!

Nothing special. Sometimes when I have to learn new songs or when I write my own stuff, I have to get out and have a walk. Sometimes with my iPod and the new music I wrote. Sometimes with my LEICA CL and some film. I love the look of film. For me it has a little more soul than digital photography. It´s expensive when you don´t have a scanner, so, the most time I take digital pictures. I think about buying a scanner for my MacBook Pro. It´s not easy to find the right one. I think the best scanners are the Nikon scanners. But there is a cheaper one called QUATO IntelliScan for Macs that may be good for my kind of workflow. I´ll think about it.

I finished a roll that I had in my Leica CL. Nothing special, some street and a sort of  William Eggleston style stuff.
Sometimes when I sat for hours in my stinky room trying to write songs or produce them, I have to take a walk through the city, the park or somewere else. The best moment to take the camera with me. Fresh air and some creative relaxing.

I went to a fleamarket last weekend. I had my Leica CL with me. Ilford Delta 400 film loaded. Not the best joice for a bright sunny day. But that´s the price you have to pay when you shoot analoque. Anyway, I walked through all these people selling all this stuff. A perfect place to find nice scenes. The problem for me was to filter good pictures out of this big chaos you can see all around. So I put my CL on F/16 and changed between 1/250 and 1/500. After I get back this film from the shop, I didn´t like all the bright white parts because they look overexposed. I don´t have much expierience in different film types so I have to try another one next time. Also my plan is to buy a scanner and develop my stuff on my own, because of the control of my negatives and because the CL eats my money! 4,50 € for the film, 7,00 € (!!!) for the scans. In case, I like the photographs and I see me in a big learning process which I very like!
